Can a claimant pay cash for chiropractic treatment when NYS Workers Comp limits them?

For example: A person suffers a personal injury and is on workers comp. This person receives 4 treatments a month, however NYS workers comp board feels they should only receive 3 treatments per month. Can the claimant pay cash for the extra treatment? I have a pinched nerve between my shoulder blades that had been bothering me since yesterday morning. Its painful when I turn my head, and I had trouble sleeping last night because I was so uncomfortable.
